You asked for it so we are putting on another Friday Night Womens Climbing Meetup! You may also be glad to know we finally have a new name for the event that requires far fewer syllables; Women Uprising! (NB: The term “Women” includes non-normative gender identities and we welcome all individuals who identify as such).
6pm Friday 27th April will be a night for you to meet, share stories and have a climb with your fellow sending sisters. There will also be a special workshop on shoulders joints. Our very own resident climber and pro Osteopath, Michelle, will be running y’all through how these crucial joints work and how to keep them in good order; if you’re interested 🙂
Michelle has been an Osteopath for 9 years. Training in Melbourne, she lived and worked in Perth for 6 years and travelled for a couple before returning to Melbourne. She sees a wide range of presentations within her practice including athletes and sporting injuries, postural and ergonomic related issues.
She is going to take us through what, in her opinion are common causes of shoulder pain and injury, give basic understanding of the mechanics of the shoulder and why these injuries happen. Then run through some simple strength and stretching exercises that we can use to help prevent injuries from occurring and keep us climbing.
Please click on “Attending” so that we can manage expectations and make sure everyone has enough to eat for the night!
P.S. There’s also now a dedicated facebook group for y’all.
