![]() | Philip Goebel – Ex Officio Philip is the currently Ex Officio on Sport Climbing Victoria. He is originally from Canada where he started climbing over 15 years ago. Having started climbing in Canadian Rockies he has been exposed to all disciplines of climbing. He has over 8 years of experience in coaching and setting roles at various gyms. Philip has post-graduate training in physiotherapy and is excited about further raising the profile and standards of climbing in Australia. |
![]() | Ellen White-Mackenzie – Chair Ellen has been interested in climbing since she first climbed as a 14-year-old. Taking her young children climbing stemmed an obsession for her entire family. Ellen has been involved with SCV since 2015. Ellen’s main interest areas are youth development and supporting other under represented groups within our climbing community. Hearing from the community that a state youth team was needed Ellen initiated Youth Competition Climbing Victoria (YCCV), which has been very successful. Ellen has also been involved in formulating the SCV child safety policy and continues to develop further policies for SCV. If you see Ellen around and want to discuss anything SCV and/or sport climbing related, please feel free to come and chat. |
![]() | Cathy Hainslin Cathy has worked in a number of schools and community organisations, as well as volunteering in various sporting and not for profit groups. She has been involved in sport climbing since 2018 to support her son, who climbs competitively. She has a great deal of experience in organising events and project management, as well as a good understanding of the grants application process. |
![]() | Yvette Harrison – Secretary Yvette is a founding member of SCV and absolutely lovers being on the Sport Climbing Victoria. Yvette loves the growth of SCV over the years and is proud of our achievements and future ventures to come. Having attended many local, national and international events over the years as a supporter, parent and Australian Team Manager, Yvette understands the need for our athletes to have recognition and support, starting at a state level. Yvette is looking forward to making further development for Victoria’s members. |
![]() | Araminta (Minty) McLennan Minty as she is affectionally known is a valued member of the Australian Paraclimbing Team and Board Member of Adaptive Climbing Victoria and Sport Climbing Victoria. |
![]() | Jimmy Xu Long time hospitality professional Jimmy was introduced to climbing while on extended overseas trips, and has since made climbing central to his life. Jimmy was a manager at North Walls and supported the climbing community, industry professionals, and athletes. With extensive climbing experience both indoors and outdoors overseas and locally, joins Sport Climbing Victoria to help grow the sport that has added so much value to himself and the community. Always happy to chat about climbing, so do say hi if you see Jimmy around. |
![]() | Jacky Hewitt Jacky is a paediatrician and researcher in the development of sex and gender. She started climbing 30 years ago, later meeting her future husband at a bouldering crag. These days she enjoys climbing vicariously through her kids, who have inherited a love of the sport. Jacky has experience on not-for-profit boards, and has a qualification with the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She’s motivated to address inclusivity and disadvantage, and to ensure child safety as sports climbing grows. |
