![]() | Ben Dalby – Director I’ve been in the climbing industry for ~6yrs, working in gyms as an instructor, coach, route setter and now making holds and training gear for climbers. I coach mainly kids; every week I coach around 50 individuals. I also privately coach a few adults and have been sight guiding for Jason a VI climber in the paraclimbing team who I went with to compete in the Para Climbing world cup in Innsbruck this year. I have a particular interest in getting youth lead climbing competitions going and ensuring competitions are inclusive, allowing more opportunity and a feeling of openness for non-binary competitors. I think that I have a good chance on making more happen in this area due to my close ties to many of the gym owners in Melbourne and having a good idea of what is required to run gyms and comps. I have formal qualifications in engineering, but I’d say I bring more of an entrepreneurial spirit to a team as my background before climbing was in developing design teams in small businesses and start-ups. This I believe has made me quite adept at working within relatively low resource environments and making the most of what we have. |

His vision includes securing a state training facility, enhancing competitions, and supporting athletes in achieving their goals. Alex’s experience, passion, and dedication make him an ideal person to help Sport Climbing Victoria reach new heights. |
