SCA Board Expression of Interest

Expression of Interest (EOI): SCV nominations for the SCA Board of Directors.

Sport Climbing Australia (SCA) is seeking nominations from their state bodies for the SCA board of directors. If you are a Victorian resident and interested in a position on the SCA board, please forward your resume and a 1 page expression of interest addressing your ability to meet the roles and responsibilities as listed below.

The roles and responsibilities for SCA directors are detailed below.

Sport Climbing Australia Director Position
Location: Meetings via videoconference.
Remuneration: Voluntary position.

Position Description

  • Meeting as a board for the development of the sport in Australia.
  • Governance of the sport of sport climbing in Australia.
  • Further develop the sport of sport climbing in all its aspects.
  • Coordinate and sanction national and state events.
  • Development of policies relating to events, selection and officials.
  • Communication with member states, stakeholders, coaching team.
  • Administration tasks relating to the running of SCA.
  • Meetings are held every month with additional meetings as needed.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • High level of motivation to develop the sport of climbing.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Previous sporting board experience at a state or national level.
  • Experience in governance and policy development.
  • Strong community relationships preferred.
  • Experience with ASC preferred.
  • Experience with other boards preferred.

Selection Process

The SCV board will forward competitive applications to the SCA board for consideration.

Oceana Mackenzie Sets Sights for Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

Oceana Mackenzie continues to shine, gaining deserved recognition from the Victorian Institute of Sport and the Australian Olympic Committee.

Mackenzie has been the recipient of a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Australian Olympic Committee.  This can be used to further develop  her training program and gain access to premier coaching and facilities.

In addition to this amazing scholarship, Mackenzie has been offered a scholarship for the future talent program with the Victorian Institute of Sport.  Through this scholarship, Mackenzie gains access to new training facilities, coaching, nutritional information and sport psychology to focus during competitions.

Sport Climbing Victoria wishes Mackenzie all the best on her bid for Tokyo 2020.

Victorian State Lead Titles Mock Competition

Sport Climbing Victoria (SCV) are running a mock competition so you can learn what to expect at the Victorian State Lead Titles.

This is both for competitors who are wanting to compete at the state titles and volunteers who will be helping out on the day.  Nervous about judging or delivering a soft catch?  Make sure you attend this event.

Date: Saturday 3 February, 2018
Time: Registration at 7:30am
Location: Hardrock Nunawading, 9 Varmon Court, Nunawading.
Cost: $15 at the door (cash only)
(No cost for volunteers)

2018 Victorian State Lead Titles

The Victorian State Lead Titles are upon us.

On Saturday 10 February 2018 Victoria’s best climbers will battle it out for the state title.  We would love to see you there as a competitor, as a spectator or as a volunteer!
